CHILDREN'S ACQUISITIONS EDITOR
Trajectory seeks a Children's eBook Acquisitions Editor to further develop the growing Children's eBook program. The Acquisitions Editor will be involved in all acquisition and publication activities for Trajectory Children's Publishing and will work with cross-functional teams to ensure goals and timetables are met.
Specific Responsibilities Include:
- Liaison to agents, authors, estates, and other rights holders for the purpose of acquiring eBooks rights for Trajectory
- Manage the negotiation process of contracts, in coordination with Contracts Department
- Coordinate with Managing Editorial team to ensure efficient transition of titles from acquisition through production
- Work with sales and marketing team to formulate marketing plans
Qualifications:
- 5 years of experience in editorial acquisition in children's book publishing
- Strong agent and author relationship skills
- Understanding and engagement in the digital publishing area
- Ability to work toward individual and team goals in a fast-scaling startup
Reporting:
- Will report to Trajectory's Publisher and work closely with development production teams

ONLINE SALES MANAGER
Trajectory is seeking an experienced candidate for the position of Online Sales Manager. Individuals applying should have digital, eBook and/or e-retail sales experience.
Specific Responsibilities Include:
- Maximize the sales performance of a growing list of titles from Trajectory
- Manage key accounts for a range of online wholesalers, retailers, and educational distributors in the eBook marketplace
- Coordinate with sales and marketing team promotions for key accounts on a continuing basis
- Liaison to managing editorial and retailers for all promotions
- Proactively manage new merchandising and promotional opportunities, technological advancements and all other current marketplace trends
Qualifications:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including a highly motivated and outgoing personality
- At least 3+ years of book publishing experience in digital books and/or sales
- Experience in digital sales
- Strong negotiating skills
- Able to prioritize, manage projects, and meet deadlines

- Will report to Director of Sales & Marketing

DIGITAL MARKETING MANAGER
Trajectory is seeking an individual who will help assist with marketing and promotion efforts. The candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing online and offline marketing campaigns. Create marketing content for distribution, coordinate promotions with retailers, and work directly with authors.
Specific Responsibilities Include:
- Develop and implement marketing plans for new and existing authors
- Participate in social networking and other new media platforms for the purpose of creating strong author brands
- Create social media sites for participating authors and training authors in how to use the sites
- Keep abreast of emerging technologies and communities in the social media space and report back to marketing team on findings
- Work directly with authors, estates, vendors and others to obtain and deliver marketing and publicity content as needed
- Execute quarterly reports for analysis
Qualifications:
- 5+ years experience in a marketing, advertising or promotion role
- Must have experience using Adobe Creative Suite (CS4+) and coding basic html
- Experience in all aspects of developing and maintaining marketing campaigns
- Experience with social media marketing and analytics
- Experience with SEO and SEM campaigns
- Individual must document, communicate and integrate results into specific action plans and follow through to manage project plans
- Ability to work closely with publishing and product development departments
- Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills required

DIGITAL MARKETING ASSISTANT
Trajectory is seeking a full-time Digital Marketing Assistant.
Specific Responsibilities Include:
- Assisting with crafting and executing marketing plans that include promotional placement, social media, advertising campaigns, and other publicity
- Generating publicity by sending review copies, press releases, and other materials to appropriate media
- Assisting Marketing Manager with writing copy for the Trajectory website as well as writing press releases, advertisements, blog posts etc.
- Engaging with authors and consumers on social networks
- Aggregating media hits and promotional placement for marketing reports
- Assisting with business development research as needed
Qualifications:
- Undergraduate degree required

MANAGING EDITORIAL INTERN
Trajectory has openings each semester for two unpaid (school credit) interns to work 15 to 20 hours per week in the managing editorial department. Internships can be for credit or job training.
Specific Responsibilities Include:
- Enter descriptive copy and other metadata as needed in title management system
- Create copyright pages
- Prep books for digitization
- Proofread POD files
- Perform quality assurance of Trajectory titles on major reading devices
- Check current Trajectory titles on Apple, Amazon, and other major etailers to ensure they are active and display the correct metadata
- Proofread website homepage
Qualifications:
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to juggle multiple and varied tasks
- Demonstrate an interest in managing editorial and next-generation publishing
- Knowledge of eReader devices and social media
